Thing 5: Time for Collaboration

How is everyone doing so far?

Just think of what all you have learned and accomplished in such a short time. Now it is time to begin actively sharing ideas with our fellow Learning 2.0 participants.

A large part of what makes blogging (and other Web 2.0 applications) such a social activity is the ability of people to comment on the blog posts of others. They might simply agree with the thoughts on the blog post, disagree, bring up new information, ask questions, or respond to the thoughts and questions of comments by other participants. Commenting and collaboration is what creates the community and energy of the blogosphere...and is also one of the characteristics of Marymount College that we all have come to value.

On that note...this next activity will lead us in the direction of fostering ideas on how the new technologies being learned through the program could transfer to our professional lives and the services that we offer our student community.

Discovery Activity:

Leave a comment on this blog by clicking the "post a comment" link at the bottom of this post, which will open up a screen where you can add your comment and choose how (or if) you would like to be identified. (Remember when I mentioned your display name when you first set up the account?)

You can leave comments on any other page of this blog during this program. Having a problem with an exercise? Leave a comment on that exercise asking for help. If you have the answer to
someone else's question, add it to the comment thread. Don't particularly like an exercise? Comment. On the other hand, if you love the exercise and see some way to use the tool here at Marymount...we would love that comment as well.

You are also encouraged to visit the blogs of other participants, read their postings and make comments on their hard work as well. Let's be each other's cheering squads as we continue through the program.

This is a very important learning time for me. I want to know as much as possible about using the internet to communicate.

I know it can be difficult to find the time for continuing education and professional development, but it is important to gift ourselves with the learning time. What I like about this program is that people can learn at their own pace and at a time that is best for them.

Mary--sometimes when I go to one of the participant's blogs, and then I try to get back to the 2.0 site using the Back arrow, I can't get out of the blog. So I have to close the blog site and go back into 2.0 through my favorites. Why does the back button not work sometimes? pmcmahon

It could be possible that when you open up the participant's blog, it is opening up in a new window within your browser. If this is the case, then you would not be able to use the back button in that blog's window to go back to the Learning 2.0 blog. You would need to go to the original window where the L2.0 site resides.
