hey mary and everyone else--i went to 43 things and opened an account and posted 3 goals and looked around that site---am having a little skepticism about considering online living the same as living--the safety is in being isolated from direct connection---but that's not much different from being alone--funny that the word verification below is "grophy"
that's a pretty good list of weblinks to go to on page 2 of his 43 things article---all new web 2.0 sites, it looks like--i remember years ago when i first saw there were online communities of chatters for my hobbies---60s rock and golf---and i spent a few days reading and posting and then decided i didn't want to live inside my computer screen--i'm there enough as it is what with work and email and checking the news and reading movie reviews--i have enough dissociative from life tendencies without becoming a cyber hermit
i wanted to report my 43 things web site experience---didn't find the directions all too clear--but saw that someone had cheered one of my 3 goals so i went to his 43 things web site and cheered one of his hundreds of goals and now i see that he has given me a cheer for a second of my goals--saw his picture--is a musician guy in massachusetts--on the one hand it was nice to have this new human connection---on the other hand it was so removed from human connection that it is taking me some adjustment to even value it--what is more, the whole world of cyber chat and reaching out makes me wonder if those doing such things as cheering online friends are living any kind of life where they cheer actual world friends---no i am going to post this, but before the blogger password forgetfulness i had made me lose a good posting to security messups by me--here goes, wish me luck
Patrick, thanks for sharing your experience with the 43 Things site...you have inspired me to continue my own exploration so I plan to give that site another look and learn about more of the features. I'll send out my thoughts.
