Week 4: Save Time with RSS

Let me just say that you are all doing great!

I know that it can be difficult to find the time in your busy schedules to squeeze in learning about these new technologies, but I hope that you will find the payoff to be worth the extra effort. You should all be proud of what you have already accomplished thus far.

Now that you have learned to set up and begin using the various blogging features, it is time to explore some of the blogs that have been created by those in the academic environment, as well as consider some ways in which they are being used for professional development purposes and in the classroom.

However, as you start to discover some exciting blogs and websites that you would like to monitor, you may soon find it quite cumbersome to go to each website one by one looking for new content on a regular basis. Wouldn't you prefer to be notified when a new posting has been added to your favorite blog (this Learning 2.0 blog perhaps). That is where RSS feeds will bring you some relief and is one of the things we will be learning next.

Be sure to read through the information and resources for this week's "things" in order to assist you in your learning and to get tips for accomplishing the tasks. If you encounter any difficulties, please do not hesitate to ask for help.

Also, remember to continue commenting on each other's blogs as your insights could be encouraging to someone else who finds themselves stuck on a task, and can also spark some great ideas for ways in which these tools could potentially be used here at Marymount.

Most of all....HAVE FUN IN YOUR LEARNING!
